C. Jenny Young, 90, of New Philadelphia, died Thursday, Dec. 6, 2007, in Park Village Health Care Center, Dover, following a brief illness.
Born, Jun. 24, 1917, in Dover, she was the daughter of the late Anthony (Maillaro) May and the late Theresa Minideo May Daiuto. Jenny graduated from Dover St. Joseph�(TM)s High School in 1937, and married Edward J. Young on Sept. 21, 1939 in St. Joseph Church, Dover. She was a homemaker �" a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, who had also worked for Dover Appliance (the former Sadiron Co.) and Snyder Manufacturing.
Jenny was a devoted member of St. Joseph Church and the Loyal Christian Benefit Association. She dearly loved her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and spending time with them. Jenny enjoyed baking and was especially known for her apple pie and chocolate chip cookies. She was also fond of animals, caring for several dogs and cats over the years, as well as finding joy in observing birds and deer in the outdoors. She will be sadly missed by her family and friends.
Survivors include two daughters, Sister Helena (Clara) Young of Zanesville, and Mary Jane (Thomas) Vajen of Lancaster; three sons, Edward (Gerrie) Young Jr. and Thomas (Barbara) Young, both of New Philadelphia, and David (Betsy) Young of Dover; sixteen grandchildren, Brian (Elizabeth) Young, Natalie (Nick) Liberatore, Erik (Karen) Young, Jennifer (Ted) Hykes, Melanie (Dan) Fitzgerald, Heather (Lewis “Buddy”) Wentz, Thomas (Jennifer) Young, Andy (Jill) Young, Melissa “Missy” (Mike) Miller, Michael Young, Mara, Matthew, Michael, Mark and Martin Vajen, and Nichole Price; nineteen great-grandchildren; two sisters, Frances Novak and Anna Yohman, both of Florida; a step-sister and step-brother, Mary Lou Richards and Leonard Daiuto, both of Florida; and several nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, Jenny was preceded in death by her husband, Edward, in 1988; a great-granddaughter, Rebecca Young; and by a brother, Sylvester May.
A funeral Mass will be held Monday, Dec. 10, at 10:30 a.m., in St. Joseph Church, with Fr. William L. Arnold officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Dover. Following the committal, there will be a meal in St. Joseph�(TM)s Family Life Center. Family and friends are invited to call at the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home & Crematory, 803 N.
