C. Jerry Miller, 80, of Dover passed away suddenly on Friday, October 1, 2021.
He was born on July 10, 1941 in Dover and was a son of the late Chester and Lucille Moore Miller. Jerry proudly served his country with the United States Army where he was stationed in Fort Hood, Texas. Following his discharge, he graduated from Southern Illinois University and began his career as a welder with Dover Tank and Plate. He had also worked at Babcock and Wilcox in Barberton, and finally retired from Republic Steel, 8th Street Plant, after 29 years of service. Jerry loved working in his garden and sharing the fruits of his labor with family and friends. He also enjoyed making model boats and woodworking, he was known for donating his porch swings for charity events. In his spare time, Jerry had a real passion for history, astronomy and antique weaponry.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Dolores Otto Miller whom he married on July 9, 1964; daughter, Michele (Adam) Heath of Dover; sister, Joanna (Fred) Stephens of Howard; nieces, Lynn (Jerry) Drake, Crystal (Tony) Gazaway both of Texas, Julie (Thorney) Kirk of Howard; and a nephew, Tim (Vicki) Stephens of Howard.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, October 7th starting at 11:00 am in the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home and Crematory at Dover with his son in law, Adam Heath officiating. Interment will be at the Dover Burial Park. The family will be greeting friends one hour prior to the service on Thursday.
