Calvin L. Domer, 94, of the Hennis Care Centre and formerly of Hemlock St., Dover, Ohio died Sunday, October 14, 2001 in Union Hospital following an extended illness.
Cal retired in 1969 as Chief Clerk for the City of Dover Light and Water Plant where he worked for 38 years. Following retirement, he was employed at the former Geiser and Kappeler Company in Dover where he worked for 10 years until retirement in 1979.
Born March 1, 1907 in Dover, he was the son of the late Lewis Emery and Laura Ina Davis Domer.
Cal was a member of the First United Methodist Church at Dover. He was also a 71 yr. Member of the Tuscarawas Chapter of the Masonic Lodge in Dover and member of the Order of the Eastern Star. He was a life member of the Dover Elks Lodge and was a 1925 graduate of Dover High School. He was an avid gardener and fisherman.
He was preceded in death by his first wife Florence Shutt Domer who died May 22, 1965 and his second wife, Florence Mears Domer who died in February, 1981.
He is survived by his wife, Louise M. Haglock Domer with whom he celebrated 18 years of marriage on June 4.
He is also survived by one son Robert L. (Dalene) Domer of Hilliard, Ohio and his daughter, Bonnie L. Wilson of Columbus. Seven grandchildren Cindy Imm, Robert Domer II, Deborah Lose, Timothy and Jane Domer, Andrea and April Wilson along with eight great grandchildren. He is also survived by Louise's children, David Haglock and Anita Haglock Paisley and son, Shawn and the children of his late wife, Florence Mears Domer; Jim and Dick Mears, Ruth Ann Mears Murphy, and Linda Mears Petrigan.
Cal was preceded in death by a daughter, Linda Kay Domer and his brother, Clifford Domer.
Funeral Services will be held Wednesday at 11 am in the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home at Dover with Rev. Joseph Glassner officiating. Interment will be in the Maple Grove Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home Tuesday (today) from 6-8 pm. with Masonic services at 7:45 pm.
