Carl E. Ammiller, 94, of Park Village in Dover and formerly of Madison St. Dover died Thursday evening, November 11, 2010 following a brief illness. Carl turned 94 this past Wednesday.

Born November 10, 1916 in Cleveland, he was the son of the late Carl A. and Edna (Thomas) Ammiller.

Carl retired in 1981 as a Supervisor for the Machine Shop at the former Shenango Company in Dover where he worked for over 31 years.

He proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy during World War II where he was stationed in San Diego and served aboard the USS Walke. He was a member of the Dover American Legion and the former White Clefs of Dover Drum & Bugle Corp.

He was an avid woodworker. He also loved coin collecting (numismatics) and years ago wrote a regular column in the former Daily Reporter on numismatics. He was also a former member of the local coin club. He enjoyed reading.

In addition to his parents, Carl was preceded in death by his wife Emma (Wisintainer) Ammiller who died September 1, 2001. A brother Robert C. Ammiller also preceded him in death.

Carl is survived by two children Carol (husband, Dennis) Lang of Newbury, Ohio and Don C. (wife, Wanda) Ammiller of Oregon, Ohio; two grandchildren, Michelle (husband, Don) Huss of Oregon and Matthew (wife, Jessica) Ammiller of Strongsville; three great granddaughters, Megan and Madison Huss and Alayna Ammiller and a sister in law, Betty Ammiller of Brunswick.

Carl's life will be celebrated Monday, November 15, 2010 at 7pm in the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home & Crematory at Dover with Pastor Michael Lowry officiating. Cremation will follow the services. He will be privately laid to rest beside his wife, Emma at the Maple Grove Cemetery in Dover where the Dover VFW will conduct military honors. Friends may call at the funeral home on Monday from 4-7pm.
