Carl E. Sullie, 84, of Dover, died Wednesday, April 2, 2008 in his home.
He was born January 18, 1924 at Dover, the son of the late Julius & Mary Gyurgyovics Sullie.
He was a graduate of the former St. Joseph High School at Dover and went on to study his trade at Coyne Electrical School, now known as Coyne American University, in Chicago. Upon completion of his studies, he embarked on a career as an electrician, working with the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers union.
Carl honorably served our country during World War II serving in the Army on a little known but vital post on Ascension Island in the middle of the South Atlantic.
A longtime member of St. Joseph Church at Dover, he had been active with its senior group and Knights of Columbus. He also enjoyed taking part in activities with the Tuscarawas Senior Center.
His wife of 56 years, Virginia Herron Sullie, died July 22, 2006.
Surviving family members include: three sisters, Margaret Sullie of Dover, Helen (Richard) Cheslock of New Philadelphia, and Joanne Sullie of Akron; and a brother-in-law John "Jack" (Doris) Herron. Many loving nieces, nephews and great nieces and great nephews complete Carl's family.
Deacon Ron Fondriest will officiate a funeral service that celebrates Carl's life on Saturday, April 5, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. in the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home & Crematory, Dover. Interment will be in the Calvary Cemetery, Dover. Friends may call in the funeral home on Saturday one-hour prior to services.

The family requests that, in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made to St. Joseph Church, 613 N. Tuscarawas Ave., Dover.
