Carl L. Seymore, 90, of Dover died Saturday, January 11, 2014 in the Park Village Health Care Center at Dover.
Born January 20, 1923 in Hohenwald, Tennessee he was a son of the late Vardy Dove and Elizabeth "Myrtle" Freeman Seymore. He was also preceded in death by his brothers, Ray and Ross Seymore and sisters, May Seymore and Louise Barr.
He retired in 1985 from the Tuscarawas Branch of Kent State University and was the owner and operator of Carl's Barbershop in Dover for many years. Carl had also worked for Sam Koldin for 18 years. It was his years as a barber that honed his great sense of humor and wisecracks; he truly enjoyed his time in the barbershop. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Dover VFW and Eagles and was an avid sports fan and gardener. He proudly served his country during WW II with the United States Navy. Most importantly, Carl loved being with his family especially his grandchildren.
Carl is survived by his wife of 65 years, Margaret Bonaduce Seymore; sons, David Seymore of Australia and Richard "Rich" (Jackie) Seymore of Dover; daughter, Carol Liotti of North Canton; sisters, Dorotha Peterman of Florida and Marie Scalambrino of California; seven grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
A funeral mass will be held on Thursday, January 16 at 2:00 pm in the St. Joseph Catholic Church with Fr. Jimmy Hatfield officiating. Interment will be in the Calvary Cemetery at Dover where the Dover VFW will conduct military graveside services. Following the burial a luncheon will be held in the St. Joseph Family Life Center. There are no calling hours. The Toland-Herzig Funeral Home and Crematory at Dover is handling arrangements. Those wishing to express their fondest memories of Carl may do so by visiting the on line obituaries and flowers link on the funeral homes website.
