Carl R. "Frosty" Biechler, 80, of Strasburg died Tuesday, August 30, 2011 at his home surrounded by his family.
He retired in 1997 from Canton Drop Forge after 46 years of dedicated service.
Born August 5, 1931 he was a son of the late John and Marie Seymore Biechler. Frosty was also preceded in death by his brothers, Raymond, Donald and John Biechler.
He was a faithful member of the First Assembly of God in New Philadelphia where he served as a board member. He was also a member of the Strasburg Lions Club, Pine Hill Hunting Club and was past president of the Strasburg Park Board. Frosty was a 1949 graduate of Dover High School and proudly served his country with the Marine Corp during the Korean War. He enjoyed all sports, but golfing and bowling were his favorite.
A loving and caring husband and father, Frosty is survived by his wife of almost 60 years, Beryl Koon Biechler whom he married on October 20, 1951; son, Barry Biechler and daughter, Carrie "Dixie" Biechler both of Strasburg; sisters, Betty (Walter) Bisel of Michigan, Geraldine "Judy" Bonheimer of New Philadelphia and JoAnn Chambers of Michigan and the family dog, Pennie.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, September 2, 2011 at 11:00 am in the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home and Crematory at Dover with Pastor Larry Fletcher officiating. Interment will be in the Grandview Union Cemetery at Strasburg. Friends can call at the funeral home on Thursday from 2-4 and 6-8 pm.
