Carl R. Teachout

Carl R. Teachout, age 88, of Dover, passed away Monday, June 24, 2013, in New Dawn Health Care Center.

Born May 31, 1925, in Detroit, Michigan, he was a son of the late Leroy and Mary Belle Marks Teachout. Carl graduated from Sandusky (Michigan) High School in 1943 and served his country honorably in the U.S. Army during the Second World War. Upon his discharge in 1946, he studied electronics at the DeVry Technical Institute on the G.I. Bill. Carl was employed as an electronics repair technician for Sparks-Withington Co., Jackson, Michigan, and later for Sears, Roebuck & Co. in Flint, Michigan, from which he retired in 1987.

He will be remembered for his dedication to his family, his love of music and for his good sense of humor.

Survivors include his wife, Aileen Elizabeth "Betty" Smith Teachout, with whom he celebrated sixty-seven years of marriage on June 15; his daughter, Dawn (Earl) Friend of Wilmington, North Carolina; his son, Mark Teachout of Dover; and his sister-in-law, Deborah (Steve) Gnandt of Maiden, North Carolina.
