Carmela S. Lamonica, 83, of the New Dawn Health Care Center and a former resident of Colonial Manor, died Tuesday, Dec. 19, 2000 in the center.
Born April 7, 1917, in Piraino, Italy, she was a daughter of the late Antonio and Rosaria Cusma Lamonica.
A member of the St. Joseph’s Catholic Church at Dover, Carmela was the Salutatorian of the 1937 graduating class of St. Joseph’s High School. Following high school, she joined the Sister of Divine Providence and later attended the Sisters of the Poor of St. Francis.
Her survivors include two sisters, Mary Lamonica of Dover and Antonette Strickler of Michigan; one niece of Michigan and two nephews of Utah.
In addition to her parents, Carmela was preceded in death by a brother, Joseph, and a sister, Esther.
A funeral Mass will be held Friday, Dec. 22, at 10 a.m. inSt. Joseph Catholic Church in Dover with Fr. William Arnold officiating. There are no calling hours. Interment will be in the Calvary Cemetery at Dover.
