Carmella C. Urfer, 90, of Dover, died Friday, October 26, 2007, in Park Village Health Care Center, following a long illness.
Born, May 18, 1917, in Dover, she was a daughter of the late Lorenzo and Dominica Grilli Berarducci. Carmella attended St. Joseph School, and was employed by the Timken Co., in Canton, where she met her future husband, Daniel E. Urfer. Carmella and Dan were married on July 15, 1945, and she became a homemaker �" a loving wife and mother.
She was a lifelong member of St. Joseph Church in Dover, and the Christian Mothers group of the church. Carmella enjoyed sewing, quilting, crocheting, and crafting. She was also very fond of cooking and baking for family and friends. Carmella and Dan also enjoyed traveling.
In addition to her loving husband, Dan, survivors include three daughters and sons-in-law, JoAnn and Al Saffell of Dover, Pat and John Adams of Ft. Worth, TX, and Dianne and Larry Coulter of Dover; eight grandchildren, Mike, Dave and Ron Saffell, Sherri Steinford, John Adams Jr., Gretchen Grosse, Rachelle Sensel and Hillarie Shapaka; nineteen great-grandchildren, Nicole, Tony, Brittany, Krista, Andrew, Gina, and Kendra Saffell, Jonathon, Jeremy and Jason Black, Adam and Blake Steinford, Amanda, Jessica and J.Q. Adams III, Carter and Meara Shapaka, Sarah Grosse and Kera Sensel; a brother, Victor Berarducci of Massillon; and several nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, Carmella was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Cindy Black; five sisters, Ann Marzio, Erma Feutz, Virginia Cramer, Angeline Milyiori and Dorothy Stephon; and by three brothers, Lambert, Pat and Anthony Berarducci.
Family and friends are invited to call at the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home & Crematory, in Dover on Sunday, October 28, 4 �" 7 p.m. A Christian wake service will be conducted Sunday at 6:45 p.m. in the funeral home. A funeral Mass will be held Monday, October 29, at 9 a.m., in St. Joseph Church. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Dover. Following the committal, there will be a meal in the Toland-Herzig Monarch Center on the Boulevard in Dover.
