Carol A. Betche

Carol A. Betche, age 79, of Dover, passed away Wednesday, May 12, 2021, in Community Hospice’s Truman House following a slow decline in health.

Born May 15, 1941, in Dover, she was a daughter of the late John J. and Nell Suder Tilkey Jr. Carol graduated in 1959 from New Philadelphia High School, and shortly afterward went to work for New Philadelphia’s Miller Studio. She was later employed by Marlite in Dover, where she remained for 35 years, retiring in 2006.

Carol was a member of Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church in Dover, and belonged to the church’s Altar Guild and Swingles Group. She gave of her time and talents as a volunteer for Union Hospital and the Dover Public Library. Carol liked traveling with her long-time companion, Larry Fieger, and among these sojourns were trips to Lake Erie, which she especially enjoyed.

Carol will be dearly missed by her son, David Betche of Midvale; her grandson, Michael Betche; her sister, Donna (Roger) Walker of North Canton; her niece, Brenda (Frank) Proch; and her great-nieces and great-nephew.

Besides her parents, Carol was preceded in death by her brother, James Tilkey, and her good friend, Larry Fieger.

Family and friends are invited to call at the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home & Crematory, Dover, on Monday, May 17, 12 – 2 p.m. A funeral service will follow at 2, officiated by Pastor Daniel J. Cammarn. Burial will be in Dover Burial Park. Following the committal, there will be a lunch in the Toland-Herzig Monarch Center on the Boulevard in Dover.
