Carol J. Giannobile, 83, of Dover, Ohio peacefully passed away in her home on Thursday, May 25, 2017, after a long battle with Parkinsons and cancer.
Born Sept. 28, 1933, in Massillon, Ohio, she was the daughter of the late Leslie and Erma (Justice) Weisgarber. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Janet Specht, brothers, Jim and John Weisgarber, and granddaughter in law, Lindsay Giannobile.
In 1951, Carol graduated from Dover High School and then attended Capital University in Columbus.
She was a beautiful and loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She and her husband operated their businesses together for many years. Carol enjoyed being Paul’s co-pilot during their many flights together. She was a devoted woman of faith and belonged to the St. John’s United Church of Christ in Dover.
She is survived by her husband of 63 years, Paul Giannobile whom she married on June 12, 1954, at Fort Richardson near Anchorage, Alaska.
In addition to her husband, she will be sadly missed by her family that includes two sons, Joel (wife, Christine) Giannobile of Dover and Jeff (wife, Jody) Giannobile of Jamestown, Ohio; grandchildren, Jessica Giannobile, Antonio Giannobile, Dina (Andrew) Zimmerman, Dino Giannobile (Sarah Welfley), Matthew Giannobile and fiancé Ashley DeBrosse, and Joseph Giannobile; great-grandchildren, Noah Zimmerman, Julian Zimmerman and Rocco Giannobile and her sister, Joyce (Don) Dummermuth of Dover.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, June 3, 2017, beginning at noon in the St. John’s United Church of Christ in Dover with Rev. Thomas Dunkle officiating. Cremation will follow the services, and inurnment will take place at a later date in the Dover Burial Park. Friends may call at the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home & Crematory in Dover on Friday from 5-8pm and Saturday at the church from 11 am until the time of service.
