Carol J. Whipple, 68, of Burtchville, Twp., Michigan, formerly a resident of Dover, died Tuesday, November 18, 2003 in the Port Huron Hospital.
She was born March 8, 1935 in Mineral City and had been residing in Michigan since 1970.
Carol was a graduate of Kent State University with a Bachelors Degree in Education and a life member of the Kent State University Alumni Association. She taught in the Dover and Mentor school districts before moving to Michigan and teaching at three schools in the Port Huron district until retirement. She was a life member of the National, Ohio and Michigan Education Associations, the Port Huron Education Association and the Blue Water Reading Association. Carol was also a member of the Michigan Association of Retired School Personnel.
She was a member of Faith Lutheran Church at Port Huron.
Over the years, Carol was also active supporting Port Huron Hospital in many ways. She was a life member of the hospital auxiliary and chairperson of the Sewing Room, a member of the hospital�(TM)s Cornerstone Club and Beacon Society and enjoyed assisting with the hospital�(TM)s Festival of Trees.
Carol is survived by her husband, James A. Whipple, whom she wed on June 2, 1957.
Other survivors include: a sister; Ruth Rausch of Dover, sister-in-law; Mary Lou Wayne of Canton, brother-in-law; David (Marjorie) Whipple of Thompsan, Maine and two nephews; Gary Cooper of Akron and Mark Wayne of Canton.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, November 25, at 11:00 a.m. in the St. Johns United Church of Christ at Dover with Rev. Steve Daniels officiating. Interment will be in the Evergreen Burial Park in New Philadelphia. Friends may call in the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home, Dover on Monday from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m.
