Carole M. Langenfeld, 66, of New Philadelphia, went home with her Lord Thursday, December 16, 2004, after a courageous 3-month battle with cancer.
She and her husband Dale were owner operators of Village Barn Restaurant at Tappan Lake from 1973-1983.
The daughter of the late Harold and Eliene Dunmore Hefling, she celebrated her 66th birthday on November 13.
Carole was a member of the Good Hope Lutheran Church at Zoarville.
A loving wife, mother and grandmother, Carole enjoyed cooking and baking chocolate chip cookies and her famous banana nut bread and sharing with all. She loved spending time with her children and grandchildren and making the grandkids their favorite dish - macaroni and cheese.
She is survived by her husband of 46 years, Dale N. Langenfeld, Sr.
Other survivors include: two daughters, Debbie (Scott) Henry of Stone Creek, and Pamela (Randy) Watson of Uhrichsville; a son, Dale (Beth) Langenfeld, Jr., of Doylestown; four grandchildren, Mindy Marie Watson, Danielle Nicole Henry, Samantha Marie Langenfeld and Nicholas Robert Langenfeld; and two brothers, Jim Hefling of Winter Park, FL and Robert Hefling of Canal Fulton.
In recent years, Carole took a great interest in babysitting and became close with all of the children she took care of including a special “grandchild” Danielle Murtaugh, who survives as well.
A funeral service that celebrates her life will be conducted Monday, December 20, at 1:30 p.m. in the Good Hope Lutheran Church in Zoarville with Rev. Marvin Ritterling officiating. Interment will be in the Dover Burial Park. Following the burial, a reception will be held in Luther Hall of the Grace Lutheran Church on the square in Dover. Friends may call in the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home, Dover on Sunday from 2-6 p.m.
