Carolyn J. Schimel

Carolyn J. Schimel, 68, of Port Washington went home to be with the Lord on Friday, February 3, 2012.

She retired from Smurfit-Stone Container in 2005 after 20 years of service.

Born February 25, 1943 in Holloway, Ohio she was a daughter of the late Charles and Marjorie Bethel Fritter. Carolyn was also preceded in death by her brother, Larry Fritter.

Carolyn enjoyed hunting, deep sea fishing, crafting, canning, cooking and entertaining family and friends. Her gift of hospitality touched many lives and her loving spirit will live on through her children and grandchildren.

She is survived by her husband of 21 years, Daniel Schimel whom she married on May 12, 1990; daughters, Cheryl (Jim) Rini of New Philadelphia and Chelly Jones and her companion Kelly Moore of Dover; granddaughter, Ashley Jones of Cleveland; grandsons, Josh (Rachel) Rini and Justin Rini both of San Diego, California and JT Rini of New Philadelphia; brother, Donald Fritter of New Philadelphia; great grandson, Alexander Rini of San Diego and many nieces and nephews.

Cremation has been entrusted to the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home and Crematory at Dover. A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, February 7, 2012 at 5:00 pm in the funeral home at Dover with Pastor Jerry Carl officiating. Following the service, a funeral dinner will be held in the Toland-Herzig Monarch Center. Friends can call at the funeral home on Tuesday from 2-5 pm.
