Carolyn L. Stein, 74, of Atwood Glens died Wednesday, January 5, 2004 at her home following an extended illness.

She had retired from the Times Reporter after five years of service.

Born September 12, 1930 in New Philadelphia she was a daughter of the late Ralph and Margaret Treacle Bair.

Carolyn was a member of First United Church of Christ in New Philadelphia, Lady Elks and Eastern Star, both of New Philadelphia, and the Atwood Yacht Club Ladies Auxiliary. She enjoyed gardening, but her true love was her grandchildren, especially watching them ice skating and playing hockey.

Carolyn is survived by her husband Donald E. Stein with whom she celebrated 56 years of marriage on November 28, 2004.

She is also survived by a daughter, Cheryl (Mark) Ritenour of Atwood Lake; son, Greg Stein of Pepperell, MA; two brothers, James (Sheryl) Bair of LA and David (Sheila) Bair of New Philadelphia; three grandchildren, Alexander and Christopher Stein and Elizabeth Ritenour.

Cremation has taken place. A celebration of Carolyn�(TM)s life will be held on Saturday, January 8, 2005 at 1:00 pm in the Toland-Herzig Monarch Center at 831 Boulevard Dover, with Rev. Glen Shedlock officiating. Those wishing to express their fondest memories of Carolyn may do so by visiting the on line obituaries link on the funeral homes website.
