Carolyn S. Weist, 84, of New Philadelphia passed away at the Community Hospice Truman House on Tuesday, February 16, 2021.
Carolyn was born in New Cumberland, Ohio on November 30, 1936. She was the daughter of the late Williard and Pauline (Richmond) McCartney. On October 18, 1974, Carolyn married Francis M. Weist, who preceded her in death on January 8, 2016. Her grandson, Joe Northrop; sister, Mona Jean McCartney; step-daughter, Tamie Weist and step-son, Richard Quillen also preceded her in death.
Carolyn graduated from Dover High School. She worked many years for Dr. E. Padro and Dr. I. Navaro and later retired from Union Hospital in 1999 where she worked at the registration desk for seven years. Carolyn was a member of St. John’s United Church of Christ in Dover, Dover Women of the Moose, and was a past Worthy High Priestess for the Judea Shrine. She enjoyed art and was a member of the Palette Art Club and also loved music and reading.
She leaves behind her sons; Tom (Sharon) Northrop of Dover, Tim (Linda) Northrop of New Philadelphia; daughter, Trisha (Sabastian) Birceanu of Massillon; grandson, Tom Northrop; her step-daughter, Tracie (John) Smith of Dover; six step-grandchildren, Amy Smith, Randi (Dan) Garrison, Dawn (Chris) Ravine, Andy (Katie) Smith, Erik (Michelle) Smith, and Ryan (Lesley) Kopp; along with 12 great-grandchildren.
Arrangements are being handled through the care of the Toland-Herzig Funeral Homes & Crematory in Dover. Services will be private and interment will take place at New Cumberland Cemetery next to Francis. To sign an online guestbook for Carolyn, visit the obituary link on the funeral home's website.
