Catherine A. Bell, a kind, caring and compassionate soul, passed from this world, surrounded by her loving family, and entered the full joy of the Lord on Thursday, July 10, 2014. She was eighty-eight, and had resided at Dover since 1995, coming from Enon.
Born June 24, 1926, at Boughtonville, Huron County, she was a daughter of the late Harry C. and Hulda (Weckesser) Pittenger. Catherine graduated from Willard High School, and, on December 24, 1948, married George A. Bell. The couple reared three children and shared nearly fifty-four years of marriage prior to George's passing on October 10, 2002. Catherine was a devoted wife and mother, and was a retired employee of Indian Valley Schools at Enon.
Catherine's life revolved around God and family, and doing for others. She especially enjoyed cooking, baking and making candy. She attended LifeBridge Community Church at Dover, and belonged to the Women's Bible Study group at Sugarcreek.
Survivors include her daughter, Kay Coombs (Ron) of Dover; her two sons, George Allen Bell Jr. (Marsha) of Dayton, and Eugene Clayton Bell (Susanne) of Coshocton; her eleven grandchildren, Ronald Coombs (Teresa), Catherine Penrod (Robert), Rachel Tice, Paul Coombs (Liz), Elizabeth Coombs, Melissa Bell, David Bell (Leslie), Amy Bell, John-Mark Bell (Hedda), Joseph Pittenger (Kayla) and Benjamin Pittenger (Megumi); her eighteen great-grandchildren; and her nieces, nephews and cousins.
In addition to her parents, and her beloved husband, George, Catherine was preceded in death by her granddaughter, Shiloh Wise; her great-granddaughter, Sakura Pittenger; her sister, Marjorie Eisaman; her brother David Pittenger; and by her nephew, Casey Eisaman.
Family and friends are invited to call at the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home & Crematory at Dover, on Sunday, July 13, 5 7 p.m., and on Monday, July 14, 12- 1 p.m. A funeral service will be held Monday at 1 p.m., officiated by Pastor David Eshleman. Burial will be in Dover Burial Park. Following the committal, there will be a luncheon in the Toland-Herzig Monarch Center on the Boulevard in Dover.
