Catherine “Katie” Toohey Corsi, 77, of Dover, Ohio died Saturday, July 24, 2004 at University Hospital in Cleveland following a courageous battle with kidney disease.
Katie was a Registered Nurse having formerly worked at the Tuscarawas County Health Department and was a private duty nurse for many years.
Born August 26, 1926 in Paris, Kentucky, she was the daughter of the late James and Nora Norris Toohey.
She was a longtime active member of the St. Joseph�(TM)s Catholic Church at Dover where she was a member of the Christian Mothers, Regina Study Club, and was involved with fundraising for the church. She was also formerly a volunteer for the March of Dimes, and a former precinct worker for the election board. She was a graduate of the Nazareth School of Nursing at St. Joseph Hospital in Lexington, Kentucky. She also many times referred to herself as the “family coordinator.”
Katie is survived by her husband, Mario Corsi with whom she would have celebrated 53 years of marriage on October 13.
She is also survived by five children Elaine Fuller of New Philadelphia, Mrs. Michael (Ellen Corsi) Tutko of Cincinnati, Mrs. Steven (Emily Corsi) Shepard of Matthews, North Carolina, John (Dana) Corsi of Charlotte, North Carolina, and Anna Maria Corsi of Wooster, Ohio; eight grandchildren Greg and Patrick Fuller, Katie Corsi, MacGregor Shepard, Jack Corsi, Moira Shepard, Elizabeth Corsi, and Campbell Shepard. One brother, William (Jean) Toohey of Paris, Ky.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Mary Catherine Corsi along with two sisters and three brothers.
A Rite of Christian Burial will be held Saturday, July 31, 2004 at 10:30 am in the St. Joseph�(TM)s Catholic Church at Dover with Fr. Bill Arnold officiating. Interment will be in the Calvary Cemetery at Dover. A reception will follow at the Toland-Herzig Monarch Center. Friends may call at the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home in Dover on Friday anytime after 2pm with the family present from 2-4 & 6-8 pm. A Rosary service will be held Friday at 8pm in the funeral home.
