Catherine E. Greco

Catherine E. Greco, age 97, of Dover, died Wednesday, January 28, 2015, in Beacon Pointe Rehabilitation Center, Uhrichsville, following a brief illness.

Born March 30, 1917, at Marion, she was a daughter of the late Joseph and Clementina (Sansotta) Frank. Catherine attended school at Marion, and was wed to Charles C. Greco on February 4, 1939. The couple moved to Dover, where they reared five children and shared thirty-six years of marriage prior to Charles' passing on Christmas Day, 1975.

Catherine was a loving homemaker, who was well-known for the wonderful cakes she made for weddings, birthdays and other celebrations. She was also an excellent cook.

Catherine was a member of St. Joseph Church at Dover and its Secular Franciscans and L.C.B.A. More recently, due to the frailties of age, she had been under the spiritual care of Sacred Heart Church at New Philadelphia.

Survivors include her daughter, Rebecca (husband, Gary) Jones of Galloway; her son, Joseph C. (wife, Susan) Greco of Ormond Beach, Florida; her daughters-in-law, Joyce Greco of New Philadelphia, and Lynda Greco of Strasburg; her grandchildren, Cathy (husband, Greg) Wiggs of Strasburg, Wendy (husband, James) Graef of Dover, Bret (wife, Karen) Greco of New Philadelphia, Brian "B.J." Greco of Dennison, James (wife, Glenda), Stephen (wife, Lisa) and Jason (wife, Vinci) Cozart, all of Columbus, and David Greco of Massillon; her eighteen great-grandchildren; her sister, Josephine Javens of Dover; her nieces and nephews; and her very special caregiver, Debbie Garrett.

Besides her parents and her husband, Charles, Catherine was preceded in death by her daughter, Mary Ann Greco; her sons, Dominic "Micky" and Charles Greco; her sisters, Toneta Cercone and Carmella Pace; and her brother, Bruno Frank.

Family and friends are invited to call at the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home & Crematory, 246 E. High Ave., New Philadelphia, on Saturday, January 31, 9:30 10:30 a.m. Fr. Tyron Tomson will celebrate a Mass of Christian Burial Saturday at 11 a.m. in Sacred Heart Church. Burial will be in St. Joseph Calvary Cemetery at Dover.
