Catherine R. Liegl

Catherine R. Liegl, age 80, of Dover, passed away Thursday, September 7, 2023, in Aultman Hospital, Canton, following a brief illness.

Born June 18, 1943, in Randolph, Portage County, she was a daughter of the late John and Helen Bauer Moledor. Catherine graduated from St. Joseph High School in Randolph-Mogadore, and, on June 13, 1970, married John J. Liegl. The couple have made their home in Dover since that time. Catherine was a loving homemaker, and for years helped John with the bookwork for his construction business. 

She was a long-time member of Dover’s St. Joseph Church, and gave of her time for over 50 years as a volunteer at Union Hospital in Dover. Catherine loved to sew, quilt and crochet; she was part of the Bears and Blankets Mission of the Winfield Church - something she very much enjoyed doing. Catherine was also a member of the A.A.R.P. in Strasburg, and had served as the group’s president.

She will be dearly missed by her husband, John; her brothers, Robert Moledor of Randolph and David (Joan) Moledor of Rootstown; her nieces and nephews - who were very special to both  Catherine and John, Mark Howard, Lisa, Brian, Jill and John Moledor, Jim, Mike, Dan, Joe and John Fondriest, Carol Gillis, Jane Sloan, Anne Gentry, Mary Beth Rooney, Chris Besee, Rose Shutt, George Liegl, Sue Edwards, Kathy Dalpiaz, Teresa Coon and Franz Bryner; and her many great-nieces and great-nephews.

In addition to her parents, Catherine was preceded in death by her sister, Mary Ann Howard; her brother, Andrew Moledor; and her nephew, Richard Polen.

Family and friends are invited to call at the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home & Crematory, Dover, on Tuesday, September 12, 5 - 7 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Fr. Jimmy Hatfield on Wednesday, September 13, at 10:30 a.m., in St. Joseph Church. Burial will be in St. Joseph Calvary Cemetery, Dover. Following the committal, there will be a lunch in the church’s Family Life Center.
