Cathy G. Schaar Harris

Cathy G. Schaar Harris, 86, of Dover, died Tuesday, August 26, 2003 in her home.

Born Ketty Yrsa Guldborg Hansen on July 29, 1917 in Middelfart, Denmark, she was daughter of the late Kristian Valdemar & Ketty Veronica Rosalinde Johnsen Hansen.

Cathy had worked as a waitress in several area restaurants and retired in 1979 from the Tuscarawas County Home where she had been employed as a Nurse�(TM)s Aide.

She sailed on the S.S. Ocean II on May 4, 1921 from Polk County, Denmark.

Cathy enjoyed gardening and working with her flowers. She had a special talent for cake decorating and for years decorated cakes for special occasions.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Sidney Schaar, who died September 7, 1993.

Survivors include: six children; Sidney W. (Juda) Schaar, Jr. of Orrville, Larry D. Schaar of Columbus, Richard Lee Schaar of Warsaw, Lynn E. Schaar of Dover, Keith A. (Nancy) Schaar of Atwood Lake and Jay S. Schaar of the home, 7 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, a brother; Walter Hansen of Iowa, a sister; Florence Grinestaff of Oneida, her faithful companion; Buttons and many dear friends from the Superior mobile home park in Dover.

In addition to her parents and husband Cathy was preceded in death by a brother and a sister.

A service celebrating Cathy�(TM)s life will be held Friday, at 11:00 a.m. in the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home at Dover with Rev. John Wood officiating. Interment will be in the Ridgecrest Memory Gardens and a reception will be held following the burial in the Toland-Herzig Monarch Center.

Friends may call in the funeral home on Thursday from 6-9 p.m.
