Cathy Jo Vosick

Cathy Jo Vosick, 57, of New Philadelphia died Sunday, February 3, 2013 at the Hospice House.

Born December 2, 1955 in Carmi, Illinois she was a daughter of the late Alvin and Nellie Smith Matthews. She was also preceded in death by a sister, Delores Hyatt.

Cathy had graduated from Crossville High School in Illinois and received her Associates Degree from Kent State University. She was an RN and worked as a Nurse's Aide Instructor for Absolute Aide Training in Canton.

She was a member of Holmes United Methodist Church in New Philadelphia. She enjoyed the outdoors and the wildlife around her home, especially the hummingbirds in the spring and summer. Cathy loved to garden, growing a variety of flowers and vegetables, as well as, freezing and canning tomatoes, green beans, corn and potatoes that she grew for year-round use.

A very caring and giving person, Cathy will be sadly missed by her son, Joshua Michael Vosick of New Philadelphia; sister, Linda (Jerry) Jordan of Pana, IL; niece, Amy (Darrin) Duduit of Pana, IL; companion, Darrell Troyer of New Philadelphia; best friend, Misty Schweitzer and her dogs, Scrappy, Espion and Gypsy.

Friends and family are invited to call in the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home and Crematory at Dover on Tuesday from 6-8 pm. Graveside services and burial will be in the Oconee Mound Cemetery at Oconee, IL.
