Cathy Mekota

Cathy Mekota, 58, of Lexington, Kentucky and formerly of Dover passed away suddenly on June 25, 2022.

Born in Dover, she was the daughter of the late Robert M. and Mildred (Garnow) Short. She was also preceded in death by her brother, Gary Short.

Cathy was a graduate of Dover High School and received her nursing degree from Aultman Hospital School of Nursing. Cathy loved the medical field and truly enjoyed working. She worked as a case manager for many years.

She leaves behind her husband, Tim Mekota, whom she married on May 1, 1992, along with her two children; Hannah Mekota of Lexington, KY, and Gus Mekota of Chardon, Ohio; and her brother, Harry (Nancy) Short of Dover.

Friends are invited to call at the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home Monarch Center, 831 Boulevard, Dover, Ohio 44622 on Saturday, July 16, 2022 from 11-12pm. A celebration of Cathy’s life will take place at 12:00pm with Pastor Matthew Wald officiating. A funeral meal will be served following the service.
