C.D. "Pork Chop" Miller, age 82, of Dover, passed away Wednesday, September 2, 2015, in Community Hospice House at New Philadelphia, following a brief illness.
Born March 24, 1933, at Trail, he was a son of the late Yost and Fern (Hostetler) Miller. Pork Chop attended school at Trail and Walnut Creek, and owned and operated Miller Welding, Inc. at Dover, which he founded in 1984. Prior to that, he was the long-time plant manager for Dover Conveyor, Inc. at Midvale.
Hard work was Pork Chop's hobby, but in his spare time he enjoyed boating, water-skiing and travel with family and friends trips to Las Vegas, Punta Cana and Acapulco were favorites. He was a fan of the Cleveland Browns through thick and thin, and followed NASCAR (No. 88, Dale Jr.).
Survivors include his loving wife, Pauline (Harrold) Miller, whom he married October 28, 1972; his daughter, Rita D. (Skip) LeMay of New Philadelphia; his son, Robin J. (Jennifer) Miller of Sugarcreek; his two grandchildren, Kristian (Thelma) Hershberger and Jessica Miller; his five great-grandchildren; his sister, Dorothy Gerber of Walnut Creek; his brother, Doyle (Elaine) Miller of Sugarcreek; his several nieces and nephews; and his cats, Squeaker and Whiskers.
In addition to his parents, Pork Chop was preceded in death by a great-grandson.
Private services will be held in the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home & Crematory, Dover, with Pork Chop's niece, Pastor Darcy Miller, officiating. Burial will be in Greenlawn Cemetery at Wilmot.
