Charles "Chuck" R. Emert, 79, of Dover passed away on Saturday, January 10, 2015 at Mercy Medical Center following an extended illness.
Born on March 16, 1935 in Somerset, Pennsylvania, he was the son of the late Charles and Edna (Woy) Emert. He was also preceded in death by four sisters; Pearl, Thelma, Ethel, and Ruth; and two brothers, Monroe and John.
He worked at LTV Steel in Cleveland, where he retired following 44 years of service.
On December 11, 1977 he married Iona Biederman (Miskimen). He was a member of the New Philadelphia VFW Auxiliary and the Bolivar Sportsman Club. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and working in his yard. He also loved his dogs.
Survivors include his wife, Iona; step-children, Mark (Marla) Miskimen of Dennison; Scott (Jennifer) Miskimen of Sugarcreek, Janice (Howard) Howell of Beach City, Gary Miskimen of Dover; brother, David Emert of Somerset, PA; along with 12 step-grandchildren and four step-great grandchildren. He was expecting two more step-great grandchildren.
A celebration of Charles' life will be held at the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home & Crematory in Dover on Wednesday, January 14, 2015 at 1:00 pm with Chet Miller-Eshleman officiating. Interment will take place at Dover Burial Park. Friends are invited to call at the funeral home on Wednesday from 11:00-1:00pm.
