Charles D. "Butch" Boone

Charles D. "Butch" Boone, age 65, of New Philadelphia, died Tuesday, May 14, 2013, in New Dawn Health Care Center, Dover, following a brief illness.

Born March 28, 1948, at Dover, he was a son of the late Walter C. and Doris J. Tedrick Boone. Butch attended New Philadelphia High School, and was formerly employed by Starlight Enterprises. He attended NewPointe Community Church at Dover. Butch loved to ride his bicycle, and did so all over Tuscarawas County, wearing out countless odometers through the years. He especially enjoyed visiting with people, and one of his favorite local events was the Tuscarawas County Fair, where he stayed from set-up to the very end. Additionally, Butch liked to sketch, and he was very fond of animals, so they often became the subject of his drawings. He was a kind, gentle man who will be sadly missed by his family and friends.

Survivors include his sister, Roberta Sauser of Norton; his nieces, Amy (Shawn) Sauser of Wadsworth, and Donalyn Sauser of Yorkville, Illinois; his two nephews, Ben (Angie) Sauser of Wadsworth, and Jamie (Gwen) Sauser of Lacey, Washington; his four great-nephews; his aunt, Jane Tedrick of Dover; his cousins; and his friends, Chuck and Nancy Hunter of Newcomerstown, and Lanny Eckert of New Philadelphia.

Besides his parents, Butch was preceded in death by his sister, Janice Kay Boone.

Family and friends are invited to call at the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home & Crematory, 246 E. High Ave., New Philadelphia, on Friday, May 17, 5 7 p.m. A funeral service will be held Saturday, May 18, at 1 p.m. in the funeral home, with Pastor Max Canfield of the First Church of the Brethren in New Philadelphia officiating. Burial will be private, following cremation, in Greenmont Union Cemetery, Freeport.
