Charles D. "Chuck" May, 57, of Dover, Ohio died Thursday, October 9, 2008 in his home following an extended illness.
Born November 26, 1950 in Dover, he was the son of Norma Rausch May of Dover and the late Harold R. May Sr.
Chuck was a long haul truck driver for 35 years until illness forced his retirement.
He was a member of Faith United Methodist Church in Dover. He was also a member of the New Philadelphia VFW and the local Teamsters in Akron and Canton. He was a U.S. Army veteran and enjoyed boating, skiing, camping and fishing. He was a Dale Earnhardt fan and loved Nascar.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife, Toni (Levengood) May with whom he celebrated 36 years of marriage on September 1; two children, Paul (wife, Heather) May of New Philadelphia and Sandi (husband, Paul) Rektor of Struthers, Ohio; three grandchildren, McKenzie Burns and Dugan & Baron May; one sister, Patricia and four brothers, Harold, Jim, Robert, and Bill May and his mother in law, Wilma Levengood.
In addition to his father, Chuck was preceded in death by a sister, Sandra Davidson.
A celebration of Chuck's life will be held Monday, October 13, 2008 at 2pm in the Faith United Methodist Church 420 N. Wooster Ave., Dover with Pastor George Reichman officiating. A reception will follow the service in the church fellowship hall. Cremation has been entrusted to the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home & Crematory in Dover.
