Beloved husband, father and grandfather, Charles E. Arter, Sr., 84, of Strasburg, died Saturday, October 20, 2001 in his home.
For 26 years he was owner/operator of the former Cindy�(TM)s Restaurant at Strasburg.
Born July 5, 1917 at Canal Fulton, he was son of the late John & Nancy Dantz Arter.
He was a member of the Strasburg United Methodist Church. A Navy veteran who served during World War II he served for five years on the USS Denebola which was based out of Portland, Maine, and was also a member of the Navarre VFW.
Charles is survived by his wife, the former Doris H. Grandon, whom he wed on October 13, 1943.

In addition to his parents, Charles was preceded in death by one brother and two sisters.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, October 23, at 1:00pm in the Strasburg United Methodist Church with Rev. Steven Court officiating. Cremation will follow services. Friends may call in the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home, Dover on Monday from 5-8pm and one hour prior to services at the church on Tuesday.
