Charles E. “Chuck” Duff, 63, of Strasburg, died Thursday, March 4, 2004 in Aultman Hospital after a courageous battle with cancer.
Chuck was a carpenter by trade having helped build many area homes over the years. In 1984, he took his talents and love of woodworking and started a family business in opening Hilltop Furniture " a company that his son now operates.
Born December 20, 1940 at Marietta, he was the son of Gilbert Duff & the late Grace Hanlon Duff.
Chuck was an avid outdoorsman. He enjoyed hunting, but his passion was on the water. In addition to the decades spent fishing at local spots and many around the state, his favorite memories came from the annual family fishing outings to Canada that date back more than thirty years.
He also took pleasure in his labor of love " a 1931, candy apple red International pick-up truck that he completely restored to showroom-like condition.
Chuck cherished the role of “grandpa” and sharing free time with his three grandchildren.
On May 14, 1960, he married the love of his life, Virginia “Ginnie” Reed Duff, who survives. The couple would have celebrated 44 years of marriage this spring.
Other survivors include: his son, Jeff (Heather) Duff of Strasburg; daughter, Heidi (Chad) Carruthers of Beach City; grandchildren, Eric and Hannah Duff and Mattison Carruthers; loving siblings, Wilma Felgenhauer of Stone Creek, Velma Jean (Duane) Ruegsegger of Dundee, Ruth (Richard) Gross of Bolivar, Donald (Joanne) Duff of Fairborn, Ronald (Mae) Duff of Strasburg, Cora (Gary) Grant of Sherrodsville, Kenneth (Beth) Duff of Strasburg, Carol (Jim) Miller of Scio and Howard (Diane) Duff of Strasburg.
A service celebrating Chuck(TM)s life will be held Monday, March 8, at 1:00 p.m. in the First Lutheran Church in Strasburg with Rev. Glen Shedlock officiating.
