Charles E. Storrie, Sr., age 90, a long-time resident of New Philadelphia, died Wednesday, August 20, 2014, in Schoenbrunn Healthcare.

Born February 4, 1924, at Dennison, he was a son of the late George and Blanche (Bowers) Storrie. Charles attended school in Sherrodsville, and went on to serve honorably with the United States Marine Corps in the Pacific Theatre of Operations during the Second World War. Following his service time, he returned to Tuscarawas County and married Evelyn M. Meechan on February 21, 1948, in Immaculate Conception Church at Dennison. First and foremost, Charles was a devoted family man. He loved time spent with Evelyn, his children, his grandchildren and his great-granchildren. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars at New Philadelphia; enjoyed traveling; riding motorcycles much of his life owning several Harley-Davidsons; and was a fan of the races at Midvale. Additionally, Charles maintained a good sense of humor to the very end.

Charles is survived by his two sons, Charles E. (Marva Joan) Storrie, Jr. of Dennison, and Tim (Carolyn) Storrie of Spring Grove, Pennsylvania; his five grandchildren, Wendy (Dan) Burroway, Charles (Jennie) Storrie, III, Shannon (Rick) Kerns, Heather (Mike) Sutton and Steven Storrie; his five great-grandchildren, Alex and Arista Burroway, Charles, IV "Chase" and Chelsea Storrie, and Zaiden Kerns; his sister, Ruby Kail of New Philadelphia; and his several nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents, and his beloved wife, Evelyn, Charles was preceded in death by his infant son, John Allen Storrie; his sister, Helen Dennis; and his brothers, John and George Storrie and Vernon Bowers.
