Charles G. "Charlie" Harmon, 77, of Dover, died Monday, June 8, 2009 in Union Hospital.
He was born August 14, 1931 at Dover, the son of the late Walter E. and Emma Kendle Harmon.
Charlie had worked for Sparta Ceramics and Wallick's Limestone.
He liked to fiddle with things in his wood shop, often spending time working on projects for friends and family members. Charlie also enjoyed going to Flea Markets.
As his declining health limited his ability to do a lot on his own, "Let's go for a ride," became the most often used phrase in the Harmon home. His car trips provided him the chance to get out of the house and take in the sights, but more importantly, provided the opportunity to spend quality time with his wife of 50 years, the former Sandra L. Kaelin, whose simple act of chauffeuring, was really an act of love.
Along with his wife, Charlie is survived by: four children, Gary (companion, Sheila) Harmon of Dover, Judy Sisco of Warren, Lori (Will) Boland of Dover, and Lois (companion, Mark) Harmon of Dover; five grandchildren, Rhiannon Wallick, Jada, Robert, and Dannielle Sisco, and Morgan Koprivec; a sister, Dorothy Clark, and brother Clinton Harmon, both of New Philadelphia.
In addition to his parents, a sister, Beatrice, and a brother, William preceded Charlie in death.
Hospice Chaplain Brian Flood will officiate a service that celebrates Charlie's life on Friday, June 12, at 10:30 a.m. in the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home & Crematory, Dover. Interment will be in the Dover Burial Park. Friends may call in the funeral home on Thursday from 6-8 p.m.
Those unable to attend or wishing to share a fond memory may sign the online register book for Charlie by visiting the Obituaries link on the funeral home's website.
Memorial gifts may be made to the donor's favorite charity.
