Charles M. "Chuck" Comella M.D., 84, of Dover died Sunday morning, April 14, 2013.
Dr. Comella was a general surgeon in Tuscarawas County for many years having practiced at Union Hospital. He was also the team physician for St. Joseph and Tuscarawas Central Catholic High School.
Born April 15, 1928 in Cleveland, Ohio, he was the son of the late Michael and Mary (Rini) Comella. He was also preceded in death by a sister, Mary Jo D'Alexander.
He was a longtime member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church at Dover. He was also active in Union Country Club having been an avid golfer. In addition, he enjoyed opera and was also fond of the musical Man of LaMancha and the "Impossible Dream." He was a graduate of Case Western Reserve Medical School and proudly served his country in the U.S. Air Force.
He will be sadly missed by his family including his wife, Janet (Jeffreys) Comella with whom he would have celebrated 64 years of marriage this Aug. 25; five children, Patsy Comella, Cindy Comella, and Kathy (Robert) Sullivan all of Chicago, Illinois, Mike (Linda) Comella of Dover and Bitty (Curtis) Koch of Sandusky along with twelve grandchildren and a great grandson.
A funeral mass will be held Wednesday, April 17, 2013 at 10:30a.m. in the St. Joseph Catholic Church at Dover. Interment will follow in the Dover Burial Park. Following the graveside, A reception will be held at the Toland-Herzig Monarch Center until 3pm.
