Charles S. “Chuck” Brown, 83, a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and uncle, died peacefully in his Dover home on Monday, October 22, 2007.

Born March 1, 1924 at Bethesda, Ohio, he was the son of the late Stanley E. & Mildred Organ Brown.

His career spanned 38 years in sales management and as an independent agent, retiring in 1987 after 20 years with a Swiss import company.

In addition, he was proud of his service to our country as a member of the Army Air Corps during World War II, and was a member of the American Legion.

Other affiliations include a 50-year membership with Masonic Lodge #177, and membership in Elks Lodge #510.

Chuck is survived by his wife of 59 years, Dorothy M. (Phillips) Brown, whom he wed on August 9, 1948. With children raised and work years behind them, the couple spent the last 20 years enjoying their time together traveling the country in their motor home.

Other surviving family members include: three children, Charles A. (Laurie) Brown of Dover, Carol Fox of New Philadelphia, and Sheryl (Paul) Hopkins of Charlotte, NC; five grandchildren, Christine H. Conness, Catherine Blalock, James S. Hopkins, Scott T. Brown, and Justin L. Fox; three great grandchildren, Luke B. Conness, Logan I. Conness, and Alexa R. Blalock; as well as 4 nieces and 6 nephews. Also surviving are two sisters, Nelle Maurer of Massillon, and Myrna Conaway of Mesa, AZ.

Along with his parents, a brother, Wendell, and two sisters, Berniece and Shirley, preceded Chuck in death.
