Charles William Lasley, Jr., age 74, of New Philadelphia, died Sunday, Nov. 17, 2013, in Union Hospital, Dover.
Born Oct. 22, 1939, in Charlottesville, Virginia, he was a son of the late Charles W., Sr., and Mary H. Hester Lasley. He had resided in New Philadelphia since 2000.
Charles was baptized as one of Jehovah's Witnesses at the age of 12, and was a member of the New Philadelphia Congregation. He loved fishing, and built his own boat. Charles also enjoyed the study of languages, and was affectionately called "Uncle Charlos."
He is survived by his loving wife of twenty-seven years, Linda Toles Lasley; two sisters, Barbara (Coleman) Lewis and Cathy (Bill) Keck, both of Virginia; his mother-in-law, Catherine Toles of New Philadelphia; an aunt; two uncles; a host of nieces and nephews; and a very special friend, Rosetta Williams.
Family and friends are invited to call at the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home & Crematory, Dover, on Saturday, Nov. 23, 2 3 p.m. A memorial service will follow at 3, officiated by Gary Gontero. Immediately after the service, there will be a meal in the Toland-Herzig Monarch Center on the Boulevard in Dover.
