Chester B. Haas

Chester B. Haas, 90, of 342 Reeves Ave., Dover, Ohio died Monday, December 20, 1999 in the New Dawn Health Care Center following an extended illness. He retired in 1972 from the Payroll Dept. at Reeves Steel Company at Dover where he worked for 46 years. Born April 29, 1909 in Zoar, Ohio, he was the son of the late Harry E. and Emma Harmon Haas. Chester was a member of the St. John’s United Church of Christ in Dover. He was a former member of the Dover Eagles Lodge and former volunteer for the Tuscarawas County Chapter of the American Cancer Society. He enjoyed bowling and was a member of the Senior League at Kinsers. He was also a member of the AARP. He is survived by his wife Pauline Morris Haas with whom he would have celebrated 65 years of marriage on January 26. He is also survived by his daughter and son in law Shirley and Dave Thompson of Dover Two grandchildren Rev. Scott (Chris) Thompson of Cobleskill, NY and Patricia (Andy) Gintz of Dover Five great grandchildren Josh, Jeremy, and Jordan Gintz and Nathan and Benjamin Thompson and his niece Marlene (George) Wallace of New Philadelphia Chester was preceded in death by one sister, Marguerite Davidson and two brothers, Raymond and Earl Haas. Funeral Services will be held Thursday at 10:00 AM in the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home at Dover with Revs. Scott Thompson and Steve Daniels officiating. Interment will be in the Evergreen Burial Park at New Philadelphia. Friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday from 6-9 PM.
