Christopher L. Smith

Christopher L. "Chris" Smith, 44, of Lowell, Ohio and formerly of New Philadelphia, died on Saturday, January 15, 2011 from injuries sustained in an auto accident.

Born on June 22, 1966 in Dover, he was the son of the late Robert L. Smith and Rose Bailey Prosperi. In addition to his father, he is also preceded in death by his nephew, David Smith.

Chris was employed as a supervisor and technician at Skinner's Tire Shop in Beverly, Ohio for 10 years. He had a passion for cars and also enjoyed tending to the cows and horses on his farm. He was very close with his step-daughter, Aleena Bauerbach, and loved attending her extracurricular activities.

In addition to his mother, Rose, he will be sadly missed by his step-father, Rodney Prosperi of Dover; two brothers, David (Sandy) Smith of New Philadelphia, Mark (Abby) Smith of Georgia; two sisters, Deb (James) Sickels of Mineral City, Pat (Jim) Zurfley of Mineral City; a step-sister, Becky (Jeff) Draher of Minerva; step-brother, Bob (Linda) Charnock of Louisiana; his step mother, Connie Smith of Minerva; three sons, Cody, Cory and Brandon Smith of Bolivar; daughter, Elizabeth Smith of Bolivar; his fianc, Annette Dunn of Lowell, Ohio; Step-daughter, Aleena Baurbach, as well as numerous nieces and nephews and close friends.

A funeral will be held at the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home & Crematory in Dover on Thursday, January 20, 2011 at 2:00 pm with Pastor David Wing officiating. A meal will be served at the Toland-Herzig Monarch Center immediately following the service. Cremation will take place with burial in Beverly, Ohio at a later date. Friends are invited to call at the funeral home on Wednesday, January 19, 2011 from 5-8 pm.
