Christopher Maxwell (“Max”) Jackson
Born January 28, 1989, in York, Pennsylvania, and died March 15, 2022, in Orlando, Florida.
He had his demons, and he was no saint, but he was loved and will be missed.
He was charming, funny, and artistic, and loved cooking.
Max went to Red Lion Area High School in Red Lion, Pennsylvania, where he played the baritone sax in band and graduated in 2007. He was also an accomplished chef, graduating from Le Cordon Bleu in Pittsburgh in 2011. After college, he externed at Disney World in Orlando as the capstone to his degree. He learned his love of cooking from his Grandmother Nancy Heston, and learned to love eggplant and lamb, and he was accomplished at preparing wild game.
Max loved movies, video games, Pink Floyd, and cooking. He hated wet socks.
Max was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Nancy J. (Nelson) Heston and John J. Heston, of Zoarville in 2016.
He is survived by his parents, Barry (Gen) Jackson (Dallastown, Pennsylvania) and Mercedes (“Mercy”) (Jerry) Destefani of New Philadelphia; his sister, Lauren (“Lexi”) (companion Nick DeRenzo), Mineral City, and her children, Ethan and Alanna Alleshouse; his stepsister, Krista (Peter) Willwert (Fawn Grove, Pennsylvania); his uncle, Guy (Allie) Heston (Navarre); cousins Samantha Heston (Navarre) and Wyatt Heston (companion Hayleigh Scheufler) (Navarre); his stepsiblings, Sara Destefani (New Philadelphia), Beth (Josh) Lewis (Dover), and David Destefani (New Philadelphia); paternal grandparents Rembrandt (Maryann) Jackson, Jr. (Clearfield, Pennsylvania) and Patricia (Robert) Coldiron (Philipsburg, Pennsylvania); his uncle Rembrandt (Dianne) Jackson III (Las Vegas); cousins Emily Jackson (Las Vegas), Annie Jackson (Las Vegas), and Iris Jackson (Los Angeles). In addition, he is also survived by Jane (Dan) Miller (Mineral City); Zack Miller (Waynesburg); Kim Miller (Mineral City); and many other cousins and friends too numerous to mention here.
The family send our deepest thanks to Tabernacle Baptist Church (Airville, Pennsylvania) and the staff of Dutch Kitchen (Dalton, Ohio)—especially Delight Howells, Derek Kelsey, Becky Olsen, and Sara Troyer—for their support in helping with the funeral and food expenses.
There will be a public viewing 5–7 pm on Friday, March 25, at Toland Herzig Funeral Home & Crematory in Dover, followed by a meal at United Methodist Church (4821 Davis St., Mineral City). There will be no graveside services. To sign an online guestbook for Max, visit the obituary link on the funeral home’s website.
