Clara A. Arnold

Clara A. Arnold, 83, of Dover passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, May 30, 2006.

She was born in Nashville, Tennessee, and moved to Akron, Ohio at a young age with her family. She married Gale L. Arnold on July 4, 1941, and lived in Wadsworth, Ohio. Gale was transferred to New Philadelphia for his career in law enforcement for the State Highway Patrol in 1960 from the Medina area.

Clara worked at Harts Family Center for twenty years before she retired in 1982. She was a member of Dover Baptist Temple where she taught Sunday school for many years. She loved spending time with her family and friends and was a devoted housewife, mother and friend to many.

She is survived by her devoted daughter, Linda G. (Gene) Argento of Mineral City; six grandchildren, Jeffrey B. (Tami) Schaar of Lancaster, Ohio, Todd A. (Melissa) Schaar of Carrollton, Ohio and Tracie L. (Nathan) Brent of Peoria, Arizona; and three great grandchildren, Andrew J. and Olivia Schaar of Carrollton, Michael A. and Chance E. Schaar of Carrollton and Noah N. Brent and baby Brent to be of Arizona; sisters, Marlene Bowling of Norton and Betty Byrd of Wadsworth, Ohio; many nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Gale L. Arnold who passed away on September 3, 1983; parents, Robert and Nannie Thompson Melton; brothers, Paulie, Robert and Ralph Melton and a sister, Velma Bowen.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, June 3, 2006 at 11:00 am in the Toland-Herzig Funeral Homes and Crematory at Dover with Fr. Ed Keck officiating. Interment will be in the New Cumberland Cemetery. A reception will follow in the Toland-Herzig Monarch Center. Friends can call at the funeral home on Friday from 6-8 pm.
