Clara M. Shook

Clara M. Shook, age 85, of Dover, passed away Tuesday, July 24, 2018, in the Dover home of her son and daughter-in-law, after battling lymphoma.

Born March 21, 1933, in Dover, she was a daughter on the late Jacob and Helen Kilchenman Stalder. Clara graduated from Dover High School, and later, on March 28, 1954, married Norman E. Shook, who survives. Clara and Norman reared three sons and shared sixty-four years of marriage.

Clara was a member of St. John’s United Church of Christ in Dover, where she often volunteered serving meals and where otherwise needed. She also belonged to the Brandywine Grange.

In addition to her husband Norman, she is survived by her sons, Jeff (Joan) Shook of Dover, and Doug Shook of Knoxville, Tennessee; her grandchildren, Chrissy (Eric) Atkins, Stephen (Jessica) and Nathan (Rosemary) Shook; her great-grandchildren, Eowyn and Zane; her brother, Howard (Sadie) Stalder of Dover; and her nieces and nephews.

Besides her parents, Clara was preceded in death by her son, Brandon Shook; as well as three sisters and a brother.

A memorial service will be held Friday, July 27, at 11 a.m. in the Toland-Herzig Monarch Center, 831 Boulevard, Dover, with Pastor Dotty Hartzell officiating. A luncheon will follow.
