Clarence E. Newton, 93, of Dover passed away at New Dawn Health Care Center in Dover.
Born on September 28, 1920 in Fairfield Township, he was the son of the late Karl H. and Nellie (Miller) Newton. He graduated with honors from Dover High School. Clarence married his only girlfriend Maxine Stucky, who preceded him in death on January 14, 2006. He is also preceded in death by two sisters; Alice Brown, Millie Taylor, and two brothers; Robert Newton, and Tracy Newton.
Clarence volunteered to served our country as the 1st Lt. Navigator for the United States Army Air Corps during World War II. He was also a Navigator for the Eighth Air Force 96th Bombardment Group in England. He flew a total of 33 combat missions over Europe. He completed his tour of duty of combat and was appointed as the instructor at the Navigation School in San Marcos, TX.
In 1982 he retired from Commercial Honing where he was a mechanist for many years. He also worked for Sparta Ceramics.
A graveside service will take place at Dover Burial Park on Tuesday, June 3, 2014 at 2:30 pm with Pastor David Wing officiating. The Dover VFW will be conducting military honors. Toland-Herzig Funeral Home & Crematory at Dover are handling the arrangements.
