Clarence “Jeff” Carter Jr., age 62, of Mineral City, passed away Monday, Dec. 31, 2018, in his home.
Born October 18, 1956, in Dayton, he was the son of Winifred Carter LaBomme of Mineral City and the late Clarence Carter. Jeff graduated from John F. Kennedy High School in Granada Hills, CA, and took college coursework before enlisting in the United States Army. He owned and operated J & J Janitorial and Carpet Cleaning.
Some of Jeff’s favorite pastimes were working out at the YMCA, boating and four-wheeling. He was also a lover of music.
Jeff is survived by his parents, Louis (his step-father) and Winifred LaBomme; his children, Darryl (Alicia) Williams of Dover, and Jermaine and Barbara Shiree Carter, both of New Philadelphia; his grandchildren, Oshea and Jaxon Williams and Phoenix and Nireyna Carter; his sister, Amelia (Lance) Fancher of Dayton; and his former wife and good friend, Peggy Carter of Dover.
In addition to his father, Jeff was preceded in death by his granddaughter, Nevaeh; and his grandparents.
Cremation is in the care of the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home & Crematory, Dover. A memorial service is planned Saturday, January 12, at 2 p.m. in the Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church, Dayton. Jeff’s cremated remains will be placed in the Dayton National Cemetery.
