Claribel "Peggy" Baker, 92, of Buckeye, Arizona and formerly of Dover went home to the Lord on Thursday, March 27, 2014.
Born November 24, 1921 in Dover she was a daughter of the late Ralph and Clara McBride Lawrence. Peggy was also preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Atlee Baker on October 20, 2002; son, Thomas Woodrow Baker; great granddaughter, Marissa Baker-Stephan; four sisters, Dorothy Lawrence, Gail Shibler, Ruth Smitley and Maxine Espenschied and her brother, Art Lawrence.
After the death of her husband, she moved from Dover with a lifetime of memories, to Buckeye Arizona. While in Dover, Peggy was a member of Dover Missionary Alliance Church, Winfield Homemakers and the Zoar Doll Club. She gave generously of her time to the American Cancer Society and volunteered at the Country Club Retirement Center. She was a wonderful mother and grandmother who touched many lives and always wore a smile. Her home was always open, and sometimes resembled a bed and breakfast.
Peggy is survived by her children, Tim (Rolene) Baker of Phoenix, Arizona, Dick Baker of Atlanta, Georgia and Bonnie (Dave) Michaud of Buckeye Arizona; six grandchildren, Tim (Jessica) Baker of Knoxville, Tennessee, Mike (Missy) Baker of Scottsdale, Arizona, Erin Stephan of Dover, Nicole Auman of Buckeye and Aaron and Jessica Baker of Chicago; six great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, April 12 at 11:00 am in the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home and Crematory at Dover with Pastor's Kelly and Susan Brown officiating. Interment will be at the Dover Burial Park. Friends can call at the funeral home one hour prior to the service on Saturday.
