Clem O. Locker, 85, of Dover, died Tuesday, Jan. 23, 2007, in Ohio State University Hospital, Columbus.
Born Aug. 20, 1921, in Johnstown, he was a son of the late Clemens and Gertrude Grund Locker. Clem was quite a baseball player in his youth, and presently belonged to the Cy Young Oldtimers Baseball Association. He married the former Ruth Ellis on January 24, 1942, before going off to serve in the United States Coast Guard. Clem was employed by the Timken Co. at New Philadelphia for thirty-two years before retiring in 1982 as a production scheduler.
One of Clem�(TM)s favorite pastimes was playing golf, and he participated in many area leagues. Following his retirement from Timken, he further indulged his enjoyment of golf at the Zoar Golf Course, where he worked until he was eighty.
Survivors include his loving wife of sixty-five years, Ruth Locker; two sons, Mark Locker of Dover, and Gary Locker of Columbus; four sisters, Pauline Steineck of Mineral City, Shirley Cromley of Uhrichsville, Faye (Bill) Lawver and Marlene Meyer, both of New Philadelphia; two brothers, James (Frances) Locker of New Philadelphia, and Ray (Marie) Locker of Dover.
In addition to his parents, Clem was preceded in death by five sisters, Agnes Lechner, Jean Frey, Alma Lundenberger, Dorothy Burchfield and Eva Hicks; and by six brothers, Dan, John, Robert, Russ, Chuck and Paul Locker.
