Cleo "Sonny" Miller Jr., 82, of Dover passed away on Sunday, November 10, 2013 at the Community Hospice House in New Philadelphia.
Born on October 26, 1931 in Mineral City, he was the son of the late Cleo and Bernice McCreery Miller. On June 7, 1953 he married the love of his life, Margaret "Peg" Miller, who preceded him in death on December 16, 1989. He is also preceded in death by an infant son; David A. Miller; his step-father, Claude "Andy" Carnes; and three brothers, Bob Miller, Chuck Miller, and Ronnie Carnes.
Sonny graduated from East Sparta High School in 1949. He proudly served our country in the United States Marine Corps during the Korean War. He retired from Hercules Engine Company in Canton.
Sonny was a lifetime member of the Grace Lutheran Church in Dover. He was very talented with his hands. He enjoyed woodworking, building homes, and remodeling for friends and family.
He will be sadly missed by his four children; Evon (Joe) Bleininger of Bolivar, Brett (Peggy) Miller of Dover, Brad Miller of Dover, Christine (Michael) Sergent of Dover; his wife and companion of 23 years, Lois Miller of Dover; ten grandchildren, Jennifer (Uriah) Hostetler, Tracy (Jeremy) Bleininger, Nathan Miller, Natalie Miller, Montana Miller (companion, Alan), Ty Miler, Jordon Miller, Trent Miller, Jaclyn Sergent, Aaronn Sergent; three great-grandchildren, Kayla Hostetler, and Trinity and Alexandra Thompson; three brothers, Neil (Hilda) Carnes of Magnolia, Vance (Sandra) Carnes of East Sparta, Darrell (Bonnie) Carnes of Sandyville; three sisters, Gloria Charton of Strasburg, Tiny (Jack) Ott of Magnolia, Karen (Donnie) Fedder of Sandyville; along with many nieces and nephews.
A celebration of Sonny's life will be held at the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home & Crematory in Dover on Thusday, November 14, 2013 at 11:00 am with Pastor Donald Rice, Jr. officiating. Interment will take place at Greenlawn Cemetery in Sandyville. Following the service of committal, a meal will be served at Luther Hall in Grace Lutheran Church. Friends are invited to call at the funeral home on Wednesday November 13, 2013 from 4-7 pm.
