Cleston G. “Beanie” Beans, age 88, of New Philadelphia, passed away Wednesday, January 17, 2024, surrounded by his loving family, in Community Hospice Truman House.
Born June 5, 1935, in New Philadelphia, he was a son of the late George E. and Mary K. Byers Beans. Beanie graduated from New Philadelphia High School, and married the former Rosemary Phillips, who survives, on March 14, 1953. The couple have been married nearly 71 years.
Beanie was employed by the Goshen Dairy Co. in New Philadelphia, and later owned and operated his own business, C. Beans Electric. He was a member of New Philadelphia’s First United Church of Christ, and was a devoted family man. Some of Beanie’s favorite pastimes were going fishing, bowling, and feeding and watching the birds around his home.
In addition to his wife, Rosemary, he is survived by his sons, Dave (Beth) and Larry (Rhonda) Beans, both of Dover, and Gary (Michelle) Beans of Gainesville, Florida; his five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; his sister-in-law, Donna Phillips; and his nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, Beanie was preceded in death by his sisters, Beverly Pearch and Zelma Bair, and his brother, Marvin Beans.
Cremation is in the care of the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home & Crematory, Dover. There will be no services at this time. Burial will be later in East Avenue Cemetery, New Philadelphia.
The family suggests that contributions in Beanie’s memory be made to Community Hospice, 716 Commercial Ave. S.W., New Philadelphia, Ohio 44663.
