Cleva M. Walton, 93, of Salem, Illinois, and formerly of Dover, passed away on Thursday, May 3, 2018 in the Doctor’s Nursing and Rehab Center in Salem.
Born August 5, 1924 in New Philadelphia she was a daughter of the late Loyal and Helen Swinderman Reynolds. Cleva was also preceded in death by her husband, Harold O. Walton. They were married on September 6, 1942, and together they celebrated 70 years of marriage, until his passing on February 26, 2013.
She attended Valley View Community Church in Sugarcreek and had been a member of the First Baptist Church in New Philadelphia. Cleva was a wonderful homemaker, who loved spending time with her family. She enjoyed cooking, sewing and making photo albums for her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Cleva is survived by her children, Judy Pietsch of Mt. Vernon, Illinois, Jim (Kathy) Walton of Dover; brothers, Jerry Reynolds of New Philadelphia, Dave (Lane) Reynolds of Avon Lake; grandchildren, Shane and Lindsay Walton, Lori Holt, Ryan and Troy Pietsch; six great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.
A service celebrating Cleva’s life will be held on Saturday, June 30th at 11:00 am in the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home and Crematory at Dover with Pastor Bob West officiating. Friends may call at the funeral home one hour prior to the service on Saturday. Following the ceremony, a luncheon will be held in the Toland-Herzig Monarch Center.
