Clifford G. Blair, 94, of Dover, died Thursday, Oct. 7, 2004, in Park Village Health Care Center.
Born Aug. 12, 1910, in Newcomerstown, he was the son of the late Albert M. and Elizabeth Murphy Blair. Clifford received his Bachelors Degree from Muskingum College and his Masters Degree from The Ohio State University. He also did post-graduate work at Kent State University. An educator for over fifty years, Clifford taught at Newcomerstown, Dover and Uhrichsville High Schools. He also taught evening courses at Muskingum College at Dover High School.
Clifford served honorably in the U.S. Army during World War II under Gen. George S. Patton. He was a member of St. John�(TM)s Church in Dover, where he taught Sunday school, served on Church Council and as an Elder. Additionally, he was a member of the Dover Kiwanis, American Legion, Tuscarawas County Retired Teachers Assoc., Brooks Bird Club, AARP and The Ohio State University Alumni Assoc.
Survivors include a daughter, Anita (Gary) Craig of Dover; a foster daughter, Shirley (Rex) Hoey of Orrville; two grandsons, John (Kelly) Craig and Richard (Andrea) Craig; two foster grandchildren, C.M, (Stacey) Hoey and Rebecca Hoey; two great-grandchildren; and two foster-great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret Jane White Blair, in 1975; and four sisters, Clara Beal, Mary Casteel, Forest Taylor and Eva Walter.
A service celebrating Clifford�(TM)s life will be held Saturday, Oct. 9, at 1:30 p.m., in St. John�(TM)s United Church of Christ, with Revs. Steve Daniels and Amy Joy Prather officiating. Burial will be in Dover Burial Park. Following the committal, there will be a reception in St. John�(TM)s.
