Clifford J. Haglock

Clifford J. “Cliff” Haglock, 92, a lifelong resident of Dover died Friday morning, March 31, 2017 in the Park Village Health Care Center following an extended illness.

Born August 7, 1924 in Dover, Cliff was the last of twelve children to Henry and Charlotte (Pfeiffer) Hagloch. In addition to his parents, Cliff was preceded in death by five brothers, Robert, Henry, Fred, Arthur, and Richard and six sisters, Ruth Cooley, Charlotte Lengler, Kay Williams, Erma, Patricia, and Nadine Hagloch.

He retired in 1985 as the Postmaster at the Dover Post Office where he worked for nearly 30 years.

He was a member of St. John’s United Church of Christ in Dover. He was also a Past President and former member of the Dover Rotary Club, Life member of the Dover American Legion, Dover VFW, former Dover Elks lodge, Dover Historical Society, Toastmaster Club, and served as a Dover Township Trustee. He graduated from Dover High School in 1942 and proudly served his country in the U.S. Army Air Corp during World War II. He was a Ball Turret Gunner on the B24 and flew on 24 missions over China, Burma, and India. He was a member of the Tuscarawas County D.A.V. He was also an avid Dover Tornado sports fan and was a 60 year season ticket holder. He also was a fan of the Ohio State Buckeyes and the Cleveland Indians.

Cliff will be sadly missed by his family that includes his wife of 69 years, Norma (Blickensderfer) Haglock; four children, Walker (Carol) Haglock, Diane (Bob) Uebel, Kirk (Debra) Haglock and Laurie (Fred) Mamarella all of Dover; eleven grandchildren, Heather Scott, Hallie Rothacher, Lindsay Lyons, Jennifer Carman, Jessie Luchsinger, Nick Uebel, Buck Uebel, Kyle Haglock, Carrie Adler, Megan Caputo, and Quentin Mamarella along with fourteen great grandchildren and four great great grandchildren.

A service celebrating Cliff’s life will be held Tuesday, April 4, 2017 beginning at 11am in the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home & Crematory at Dover with Rev. Tom Dunkle officiating. Interment will be in the Dover Burial Park where the Dover VFW will conduct military honors. A reception will follow in the Toland-Herzig Monarch Center. Friends may call at the funeral home on Monday from 5-8pm.
