Clyde E. “Pappy” Browning, 77, of Bowerston, died Saturday, July 23, 2005 in Canton�(TM)s Mercy Medical Center, following a long illness.
Born in Hibbitts, Ohio on March 7, 1928, Clyde was the son of the late Horace Commodore and Myrtle “Effie” Arrowood Browning, Sr.
Clyde followed in his father�(TM)s footsteps by working with the Timken Company. He worked as a heater in the mill and retired after 43 years of service to the company.
He was a man of great faith and was a longtime member of the Canton Baptist Temple.
He loved being outdoors tending to his flowers and keeping up the manicured appearance of his lawn. He was also an avid fisherman.
His family meant the world to him. He always looked forward to spending special time together, whether it was just a pop-in visit at home, or at one of the famous Browning family reunions held at Atwood Lake. He also relished family trips and vacations, like his favorite trips down south and out west.
Clyde also honorably served his country as a member of the Army�(TM)s 1st Calvary Division in World War II and Korea.
On April 27, 1951 Clyde married the love of his life, Barbara E. Browning, who survives.
Other survivors include: four children, Sue Olinger and her companion Clyde Giltz of Massillon, Thomas (Judy) Browning of Mineral City, Tim (Marilee) Browning of Carrollton, and Sharon Shilling of Littleton, Colorado; eight grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren; four brothers, Robert Browning of Canton, Joe Browning of Massillon, Bill Browning of Canton and Horace Browning, Jr., of Malvern; and a sister, Bernice Herron of Dover.
In addition to his parents, Clyde was preceded by, brothers, John & Gene, infant brothers, Lyle & Harold, a sister, Betty; and he was especially saddened by the loss of his daughter, Karen, who died on November 29, 1996.
A ceremony celebrating Clyde�(TM)s life will be held Wednesday, July 27, at 11:00 a.m. in the Canton Baptist Temple. Interment will be in the Dover Burial Park.
Friends may call in the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home & Crematory, Dover on Tuesday from 6-9 p.m.
